Farmers/Growers

1.  Grandpa’s Garden Produce

Cliff Dziech grew up in College Hill and now resides in Colerain Township.  Grandpa’s Garden Produce is one of the original vendors at the College Hill Market.  He  brings local produce fresh picked from his garden—beans, greens, beets, lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, squash, and apples.

2.  Lazy Acres Farm

Linda Johnson from Lazy Acres Farm in Lawrenceburg, Indiana is also well known by College Hill Farm Market shoppers.  She and her family bring farm-fresh produce,  free range eggs,  baked good (such as yummy rosemary Pita and fruit pies)

3.  Yoder Family Farms

Vern Yoder joins us for his second year at the College Hill Market.  He sells home baked breads and pies and brings his wonderful sweet corn in season.  Talk to him about his dairy products.

4.  Bergefurd’s Farm- http://www.bergefurdsfarmmarket.com

Marcia  and Brad Berefurd bring a truckload of fresh produce each week from their farm in Willmington.  They have early produce such as asparagus, strawberries and rhubarb as well as a wide array of local produce and cut flowers.  See their website for information on their CSA.  College Hill is a CSA pick-up point.

5.  Bethel Lane Farms

Eric Beard is a new vendor in College Hill.  He grows a variety of greens—turnip, mustard, kale and swiss chard.  He will also bring other produce in season

6.  Artia’s garden

As a part of the Findlay Market Urban Farming initiative, Artia Muhley is a new vendor who will be selling locally grown produce and herbs.  Talk to her about this exciting new program to support  farming  in Cincinnati.

7.  Madison’s Ridgeview Farm

College Hill residents Bryan and Carolyn Madison own Ridgeview Farm, a hundred acre Farm in Adams County. Besides growing and selling their own seasonal produce, they also bring  goods from neighboring Amish and Mennonite farms. Their selection of certified organic produce is one of the largest in Cincinnati.  In the winter, they also provide conventional fruits and vegetables to our winter market.  Watch Bryan talk about buying local:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynjd9Ra3NgM

8.  Wooden Shoe Gardens

One of local vendors is David Rosenberg from Wooden Shoe Hollow Farm in Winton Place.  He grows a variety of micro-greens and brings them fresh  all year  around to the College Hill Summer and Winter market. He grows and sells organic Micro-greens.  Micro-greens are seedlings of various vegetables and greens which are harvested after they form their first true leaves. Unlike “sprouts” which are grown in water, Micro-Greens are grown in soil and can be grown year around to bring fresh local greens throughout the winter. They are colorful and flavorful and can be added to tossed salads,  garnish soups, used in sandwiches like lettuce or spinach or on top of hummus or cream cheese on crackers as a tasty fresh appetizer.
